About the position

The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations and providing therapy services according to individual student care plans and physician orders. This role involves assessing communication skills, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support students with communication disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses students' communication skills to identify disorders and determine program eligibility.
  • Collaborates with various groups to communicate information and resolve issues.
  • Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students, including IEPs and parent conferences.
  • Develops treatment plans and educational materials to minimize the impact of communication disorders.
  • Instructs students in the use of communication technologies such as hearing aids and augmentative devices.
  • Maintains records including progress reports and treatment plans.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for professional development.
  • Provides speech and language therapy to students to support their success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
