About the position

The Speech Language Pathologist position is a full-time, direct hire role at a skilled nursing facility in Lancaster, NY. The role focuses on providing high-quality speech-language therapy to residents, ensuring their health and well-being through tailored treatment plans. The ideal candidate will be engaging and dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the community's residents, while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Screens residents for communication problems and conducts evaluations to recommend therapy plans.
  • Coordinates audiometric screenings and refers residents for further evaluations or treatments as necessary.
  • Initiates and maintains speech-language therapy plans according to physician orders, ensuring regular communication with the physician.
  • Observes and respects the rights of residents, treating them with kindness and dignity.
  • Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for all residents in therapy programs.
  • Collaborates with other staff to integrate speech-language treatment with other disciplines' goals.
  • Attends care planning meetings for residents in speech-language treatment programs.
  • Maintains records including statistical reports, in-service education information, and budget details.
  • Submits statistical reports for Medicare billing and completes assessment forms as requested.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service training programs.
  • Develops and conducts in-service training for facility personnel involved in resident care.
  • Reviews and revises speech-language policies and procedures annually.
  • Maintains program costs within the annual budget parameters.
  • Ensures all duties are performed according to safety rules and practices.
  • Generates ideas to improve resident care quality and position productivity.
  • Exhibits high levels of customer service towards residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Requirements

  • M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school required.
  • New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
  • Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
  • Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and teamwork required.
  • Verification of qualifications by the New York State Department of Health required.
  • Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the company's vision and core values.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility setting.
  • Familiarity with Medicare billing processes.
