About the position

The Bellevue Union School District is seeking a Speech, Hearing, and Language Specialist to provide evaluation and instructional services to students with speech, hearing, and language deficiencies. The position involves administering screenings and diagnostic tests, interpreting results to develop annual goals, and working directly with students to improve their speech and language skills. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining records, preparing reports, and attending professional development meetings. The role is supervised by the Special Education Coordinator and site principals.

Responsibilities

• Administers screening of students and diagnostic tests to determine eligibility for services and for annual purposes.
• Interprets the results of diagnostic tests to develop annual goals for students on caseload.
• Works with students to correct or modify their speech and language.
• Makes referrals and schedules conferences and IEP's when necessary with school personnel, parents, and others.
• Maintains records and prepares reports as directed.
• Attends regular professional development and other meetings as required.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or equivalent.
• Copy of the Credential or Letter from program that Credential will be complete by first date of paid employment.
• Official transcripts must be provided if offered a contract.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a school setting working with students with speech and language deficiencies.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws, codes, regulations, and requirements pertaining to regular and special education.
