About the position

The position involves working cooperatively with families, schools, and communities to foster a positive educational environment that contributes to the growth and development of all children, especially those who are at-risk or disabled. The role includes conducting evaluations, providing direct services, and support services within the RTI and special education framework. Responsibilities also encompass providing prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in language, speech, voice, and fluency. The position requires creating goals and benchmarks to enable students to meet learning expectations and interpreting assessment data to plan effective interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with families, schools, and communities.
  • Foster a positive educational environment for all children, especially those at-risk or disabled.
  • Conduct evaluations and provide direct and support services within RTI and special education framework.
  • Provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with language, speech, voice, and fluency difficulties.
  • Screen, identify, assess, diagnose, treat, and follow up on speech and/or language disorders.
  • Create goals and benchmarks for student learning.
  • Interpret assessment data to modify learning environments and plan interventions.
  • Employ a wide range of information and technology to enhance student learning.
  • Determine the least restrictive environment for providing services based on individual student needs.
  • Plan and adjust instructional content and strategies based on student differences.
  • Communicate effectively using appropriate language for the audience.
  • Use various formal and informal assessment tools and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate information responsibly to parents/guardians.
  • Maintain confidentiality of medical and academic records.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Model effective communication and English grammar rules.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians to promote students' learning and well-being.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Valid Professional Educator License with endorsement in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Demonstrated desire to help all children.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
