About the position

The Speech Therapist position at Tri-City Medical Center involves providing individualized evaluations, treatments, and education to patients across various care settings, including inpatient acute care, rehabilitation, and outpatient services. The role emphasizes adherence to professional standards and ongoing professional development to ensure high-quality patient care. The therapist will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to assist patients in achieving their maximum performance and functioning levels.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Accurately perform individualized and quality treatments and education to patients and families/caregivers.
  • Provide care in inpatient acute care, inpatient acute rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings based on patient care and business needs.
  • Maintain productivity requirements as determined by both number of patients and units produced.
  • Meet weekend and holiday requirements based on FTE status.
  • Independently assess all areas relevant to patient function, utilize sound clinical decision-making skills, develop a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan, and complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Accurately enter data in Tri-City Medical Center's Electronic Health Record Systems.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide mentorship as requested (voluntary).
  • Follow organization's rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards while carrying out the mission, vision, and values of Tri-City Health District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care experience, preferred.
  • Competent in provision of Speech Therapy modalities, interventions, and procedures, required.
  • Prior FEES & MBSS experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of standard office equipment (i.e., fax, photocopier), personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet), required.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, required.
  • Licensure or eligible for licensure by the California Speech Pathology and Audiology Board, required.
  • Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency or eligible, required.
