About the position

At Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care through our healing ministry. As a Speech Therapist, you will work under the general supervision of the Physical Medicine Supervisor, performing objective assessments and developing comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all ages. Your role will involve conducting initial assessments upon receiving referrals and documenting all relevant information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. You will administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, and treatment procedures, ensuring adherence to the standards of treatment care established by the department. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will participate in promoting education within the department, sharing your knowledge and expertise with colleagues and patients alike. You will also be expected to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating an understanding of the special needs and behaviors of various age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This position is part-time and per diem, with varying shifts that may include days, holidays, weekends, and rotating schedules. Responsibilities

  • Perform initial assessments on each patient upon receiving referral.
  • Document all information according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
  • Participate in promoting education within the department.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Current or provisional Speech Language Pathologist license in applicable State of practice.
  • Certification from American Speech and Hearing Association within 1 year of hire, with extension at the discretion of leader and clinical fellowship supervisor.
  • BLS certified, with required certifications current before being assigned to care for patients independently.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
