About the position

The Spine Sales Representative at Stryker is responsible for soliciting orders and selling Stryker products within a designated territory. This role involves maintaining awareness of competitive conditions, achieving sales objectives, and developing product demand through education and training for clinicians and hospital staff. The representative will work closely with orthopedic and neuro spine surgeons to establish strong business relationships and provide high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit orders and sell Stryker products assigned in the designated territory.
  • Maintain awareness of local competitive conditions and report back to the manager.
  • Achieve sales objectives and market development goals within the sales territory.
  • Assist with sales calls to customers and prospects, focusing on orthopedic and neuro spine surgeons.
  • Generate new sales, develop leads, and recruit new surgeons through sales calls.
  • Grow and develop clinical competency in spinal anatomy and Stryker Spine products.
  • Meet or exceed territory sales objectives for each product category and target accounts.
  • Prepare for and cover surgical cases to provide value to surgeons, patients, and facilities.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with prospective and existing customers.
  • Serve as the primary backup contact for Sales Representatives.
  • Maintain expert knowledge in Spine products and competitive offerings.
  • Provide high-quality on-call service to existing customers.
  • Manage and maintain a sample inventory of products and move consignment and loaner inventory as needed.
  • Assist in the collection of Purchase Orders and respond to customer complaints according to company policy.
  • May assist in the preparation and operation of trade shows, conventions, and clinical meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited college or university preferred.
  • Five years' experience in a clinical and/or operating room environment or a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Two years of successful sales experience required, preferably in medical devices.
  • Knowledge in the use of current office technologies (MS Office suite, Salesforce.com, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain relationships.
  • Comfortable in emergency/operating room environments.
  • Aptitude to learn a product's key features and benefits.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated biomechanical aptitude with previous exposure to professional orthopedic or clinical work environment preferred.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective sales and marketing plans.
  • Must be able to lift and carry samples and surgical instruments kits up to 40 pounds.
  • Available on a 24-hour basis to respond to customer emergencies as required.
