About the position
The Spiritual Formation Pastor at Illuminate Community Church is a key leadership role focused on developing discipleship pathways and fostering spiritual growth within the congregation. This position requires a theologically grounded individual with strong management skills to oversee adult and family discipleship ministries, ensuring that congregants engage deeply with their faith and build authentic relationships with one another. The role involves teaching, pastoral care, and community engagement, all aimed at fulfilling the church's mission of loving all people and empowering them for God's mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust, theologically sound discipleship pathways that foster spiritual growth and maturity.
- Facilitate environments for congregants to encounter God's truth and grow in their faith.
- Lead Bible studies, discipleship classes, and group sessions.
- Serve as a primary teacher and leader within the church's discipleship ministries.
- Provide theological training and guidance to staff, volunteers, and congregants.
- Offer pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance.
- Oversee and develop leaders within various discipleship ministries.
- Recruit, train, and develop volunteers for small groups and Bible studies.
- Set performance goals and provide regular feedback to ministry teams.
- Collaborate with other ministry leaders to align discipleship goals with the church's mission.
- Manage budgets, resources, and schedules for the spiritual formation ministry.
- Design and implement effective systems to enhance ministry efficiency.
- Act as a spiritual leader within the community, encouraging congregants to live out their faith.
Requirements
- Master of Divinity or equivalent required.
- 10-15+ years of experience in ministry leadership.
- 10-15+ years of related experience.
- Strong biblical teaching skills.
- Effective stewardship of multiple ministry budgets.
- Demonstrated competency in curriculum development and discipleship program design.
- Relational skills and ability to foster a healthy spiritual environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Skills in Adobe InDesign.
- Experience with learning new database systems and virtual platforms.
