The Splicing Technician role at AT&T involves performing maintenance and repair tasks related to telecommunications equipment, including splicing wires and cables, troubleshooting cable faults, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The position requires both technical skills and customer interaction, as technicians will represent the company while working on-site.

Responsibilities

• Receives daily work assignments and instructions from supervisors or dispatch center.
• Loads required tools and materials into the company vehicle and travels to work locations.
• Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Reviews and analyzes complex schematic drawings to determine work methods and tasks.
• Splices pairs of color-coded or tone-identified conductors together using hand tools or machines.
• Identifies, isolates, and repairs various types of cable faults.
• Works with outside contractors during excavation of cable facilities for service restoration or installation.
• Isolates and locates air pressure leaks in underground cable facilities.
• Uses various electronic test equipment for diagnostics and repairs.
• Communicates with other work groups, customers, and vendors regarding completed work and new assignments.

Requirements

• Experience with small hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Basic computer literacy for using mechanized systems.
• Ability to read and analyze schematic drawings.
• Knowledge of binary numbering systems, digital concepts, and fiber optics may be required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in telecommunications or related fields.
• Familiarity with digital data circuits or fiber conductors.
