About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team, working split shifts to assist individuals with daily living activities and promote their independence. This part-time role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to clients in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Monitor patient health and behavior, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
• Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
• Provide support in home community care settings, fostering independence and social engagement.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of each client.
• Assist clients with mobility needs, including lifting and transferring when necessary.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while documenting client progress and incidents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• DSP certificate or willingness to take the 2-hour course.
• Certification in CPR is required.
• Strong understanding of patient monitoring techniques and patient care best practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience or training in medication administration.
• Knowledge of home community care practices and social work principles.
• Familiarity with dementia care strategies to effectively support clients experiencing cognitive decline.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
