About the position

The Splunk Admin role is responsible for the support, installation, and maintenance of the Enterprise Splunk environment. This position involves developing conceptual and logical designs for databases and other components to meet overall information requirements and strategy. The role requires troubleshooting, implementing upgrades, and conducting quality reviews of Splunk dashboards and reports, while also mentoring junior associates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and logical designs for databases and other components to meet information requirements.
  • Support, install, and maintain the Enterprise Splunk environment using standard procedures.
  • Design, construct, and propose complex Splunk repository and infrastructure changes.
  • Troubleshoot medium to difficult metadata/Splunk repository and functionality problems.
  • Conduct implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of Splunk infrastructure and supporting data management.
  • Design and construct complex Splunk dashboards and reports, conducting quality reviews.
  • Perform Splunk system administration duties with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct data profiling analysis and data quality analysis with guidance.
  • Communicate with and mentor junior associates.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in information systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Splunk administrator or infrastructure support role.
  • Experience with syslog and syslog-ng logging as they relate to Splunk.
  • Experience working with Splunk on-premise and Cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in Agile frameworks and DevSecOps processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with Splunk SOAR or similar tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Experience with commercial/government cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
  • Python scripting skills and experience.
  • Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Familiarity with common security implementation frameworks (NIST, ISO, HIPAA) in a highly regulated industry.
