About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) House Lead is responsible for providing support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, ensuring their needs are met while promoting community integration and a safe living environment. This role involves direct interaction with clients, assisting with daily living activities, and maintaining documentation, all under the supervision of the Program Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients and provide informal counseling; support clients in problem-solving challenges.
• Support day-to-day needs including personal hygiene, food preparation, housekeeping, shopping, monitoring health needs, and supervision of medication.
• Assist participants with accessing community outings of clients' choosing.
• Operate agency vehicle to transport clients or assist with transportation needs.
• Complete required written and digital documentation of each shift, including medication records, behavior tracking, incident reports, and financial records.
• Assist with medical needs, including vital signs, transferring, turning, positioning, and tube feeding.
• Operate necessary equipment including Hoyer lift, shower chairs, suction machines, and medicine crushers.
• Provide positive behavior support to clients.
• Develop and maintain activity calendars and property inventory records.
• Prepare grocery lists and assign staff to support participants with grocery shopping.
• Monitor home status and provide maintenance requests.
• Support new hires and provide training, including peer coaching.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License, able to be covered on Alpha Supported Living Services' automobile insurance plan based on driving record.
• Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency.
• 1 year or more experience as a DSP or in another leadership role.

Nice-to-haves

• NAR CNA or HCA license is highly desired but not required.
• Basic ability to use laptops, desktops, or tablets to complete computer tasks.
