About the position
The Sponsored Collections Intermediate Associate at the University of Michigan Shared Services Center plays a crucial role in processing accounts receivable-related requests from both internal and external customers. This position involves ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements, managing customer correspondence, and providing accurate payment status updates for sponsored projects. The role supports the Accounts Receivable Team and requires effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret agreements to ensure disputed billings comply with sponsor requirements.
- Maintain regular contact with assigned customers via phone and email.
- Manage customer correspondence to ensure account accuracy.
- Research payment status issues to provide accurate answers and resolutions.
- Respond to payment status inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Apply sponsored research payments to the appropriate accounts per procedure.
- Keep research teams and internal partners informed about complications that may result in payment delays.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience providing customer service.
- Intermediate level proficiency with data entry and computer skills.
- 1+ years of experience with business software solutions.
