About the position

The Associate Director of Sponsored Programs (Pre-Award) plays a crucial role in supporting faculty and staff at D'Youville University in the development and submission of sponsored research proposals, particularly focused on health initiatives. This position is responsible for guiding Principal Investigators and Project Directors through the pre-award process, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines, and facilitating the submission of competitive proposals to secure external funding.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PIs/PDs in identifying funding opportunities in health programs innovation and research, particularly from federal agencies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between faculty, staff, and external funding agencies during the pre-award process.
  • Review and edit proposals for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to submission requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of all pre-award documentation, ensuring timely submission of proposals and compliance with all grant guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Guide faculty and staff through the entire pre-award process, including proposal development, budget preparation, and submission.
  • Provide training and resources to faculty and staff on health research grant proposal development, including offering individual consultations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in research grant writing, administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the health funding landscape, particularly with federal agencies.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
  • Proficiency in research administration software and grant submission platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting PIs/PDs in the development and submission of research proposals to federal funding agencies.
  • Familiarity with GrantHub (or similar) and CRM systems.
  • Experience in higher education or research institutions.
  • Prior experience with complex, multi-institutional research proposals.
