About the position

The Outpost/Sporting Goods Person in Charge (PIC) is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the sporting goods department, ensuring a safe and appealing shopping environment. This role involves supervising team members, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws regarding firearm sales. The PIC also provides exemplary customer service and addresses customer inquiries promptly.

Responsibilities

• Stock, straighten, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the department.
• Schedule and supervise team members within the department.
• Place regular orders for merchandise to ensure the department is well-stocked.
• Perform background checks on firearm sales in accordance with company guidelines and laws.
• Accurately log, inventory, transfer, sell, and record firearms.
• Provide exemplary customer service and address customer inquiries promptly.
• Implement and maintain merchandising standards for product arrangement and restocking.
• Manage register transactions and verify high-ticket items with a supervisor.
• Assist with merchandise transfer and adhere to safety and security procedures.
• Maintain department cleanliness through various cleaning tasks.
• Collaborate with supervisors to determine merchandising priorities.
• Work with vendors to optimize order quantities and product rotation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Customer service skills preferred.
• Knowledge of Sporting Goods, Fishing, and Hunting.
