About the position
The Sports Book Ticket Writer is responsible for writing, verifying, and processing payments on sports wager tickets in compliance with gaming regulations. This role involves maintaining a cash bank, providing customer service, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The position requires interaction with guests to explain wagering rules and assist with inquiries, all while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for sports wagers according to department policy and procedures.
- Maintain a cash bank for the shift, accepting payments and making correct change when necessary.
- Stock Sports book Writer/Cashier's stations with adequate supplies and keep all stations neat and clean.
- Write sports tickets accurately and in a timely manner.
- Make payments on winning tickets accurately and timely; verify tickets and payoffs.
- Maintain and reconcile the bank for the assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and procedures.
- Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, to guests.
- Provide information and assistance to customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Offer information on activities and direct guests for further information as necessary.
- Create and enter player tracking cards.
- Notify management of escalated or prevalent guest issues/concerns and any apparent suspicious activity.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum six (6) months of cash-handling experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Previous experience in race and sportsbook.
- Previous experience in a similar resort environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Ability to obtain a Maryland Lottery License.
