About the position
The Sports Director at the YMCA is responsible for leading and managing the sports program operations, staff, budget, and fundraising efforts. This role ensures a positive membership experience and compliance with YMCA standards while fostering community engagement and volunteer development.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management for the sports program area operations.
- Recruit, train, develop, and manage a high-performing volunteer base.
- Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
- Build and expand program enrollment and participation.
- Manage the registration process for all sport seasons.
- Organize and train coaches for team and league formation.
- Monitor and evaluate the delivery and effectiveness of programs and volunteers.
- Prepare for, attend, and manage all game days, staff, and volunteers.
- Develop, monitor, and meet or exceed budget targets.
- Provide leadership for fundraising goals and special events.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 21
- One year management experience required, including hiring, firing, and budget management
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision, and values
- Must complete CPR/AED, First Aid, and other required workshops within 30 days of hire
