The Sports Metrics Analyst position is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data science and sports analytics. This role is designed for a skilled Data Analyst who will be instrumental in driving data-driven insights and innovations within a consultancy group that partners with major sports organizations. The primary focus of this position is to leverage advanced analytics to enhance player performance and safety, particularly through injury prevention and management. The ideal candidate will be adept at handling complex data sets and proficient in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and multivariate testing. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing data from wearable monitors used by players to assess various factors that may impact their performance and safety. You will transform raw data into actionable insights using Python, which includes data visualization and predictive modeling. Conducting statistical analysis and multivariate testing will be essential to identify patterns and trends that can inform decision-making processes. Additionally, you will present your research findings to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that can be easily understood and implemented. Collaboration with various teams will be a key aspect of this role, and while the position is primarily onsite in Charlottesville, there may be some flexibility for remote work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred in STEM fields or Bioinformatics.

  • Experience in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and multivariate testing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Previous experience in sports analytics or health-related research is a plus.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Charlottesville with some flexibility for remote work.
