About the position

WJZ - TV in Baltimore is seeking a creative and experienced Multi-Media Journalist/Reporter for TV and all digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reporting, writing, shooting, and editing engaging, informative, and compelling news content. This role requires a dynamic storyteller who can develop and implement enterprise stories regularly, ensuring that the station's social media and digital platforms are consistently supplied with news content. A strong commitment to accuracy, fairness, and ethics is essential, as is the ability to meet all daily production deadlines. The position also involves other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission and strategy of the station. The successful candidate will be a leader who works well with a team and can effectively communicate on-air, online, and across social media platforms. Prior experience with non-linear shooting and editing is required, along with a solid understanding of social media's role in news reporting. The ability to work under deadline pressure and adapt to a variable schedule is crucial for this position. The Multi-Media Journalist/Reporter will play a key role in delivering high-quality journalism that meets the standards set by CBS News and Stations, which is home to the nation's #1 news program and a leader in digital streaming news.

Responsibilities

  • Report, write, shoot, and edit engaging, informative, and compelling news content.
  • Develop and implement enterprise stories regularly.
  • Regularly supply news content to the station's social media and digital platforms.
  • Maintain an unequivocal dedication to accuracy, fairness, and ethics.
  • Ensure meeting all daily production deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience as a Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ).
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a similar field preferred.
  • Proven experience shooting and editing with small or mid-sized professional video cameras used in MMJ reporting.
  • Dynamic storytelling and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and implement the station's mission and strategy effectively.
  • Expert communication skills on-air, online, and social media platforms.
  • Prior experience with non-linear shooting and editing.
  • Knowledge of social media usage is a requirement.
  • Ability to work well under deadline pressure.
  • Willingness to join SAG/AFTRA Union.
