About the position

The Sports Performance Scientist / Analyst is responsible for leading the collection, analysis, and application of sports performance data to optimize athlete health, training, and game performance. This role focuses on implementing advanced sports science techniques to monitor athlete well-being, support injury rehabilitation, and enhance performance outcomes, requiring collaboration with various stakeholders within the club.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance data sets, including readiness to train, wellness, training, fatigue monitoring, and match performance data.
  • Utilize sports science and data analysis to make informed decisions on player performance, rehabilitation, and return-to-play strategies in collaboration with performance, medical, and coaching stakeholders.
  • Test, evaluate, monitor, and deliver insights and specific reporting of important findings to the Director of Sports Performance related to sports science and data analysis.
  • Assist with daily field warmups, strength training sessions, and reserve training sessions, with opportunities to design and implement protocols.
  • Provide recommendations on physical performance, injury prevention, and off-season programming to athletes.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to introduce innovative practices and present research on factors influencing player performance and injury prevention/risk.
  • Manage the integration of current analytical tools into a centralized data management system.
  • Develop new models, dashboards, and reports to analyze the physical health of players throughout the season.
  • Assist in other aspects within the Performance Department, such as fitness and strength sessions.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, and other team personnel.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience using technologies such as Catapult GPS, Vald Performance, Force Plates, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of strength and conditioning programming in elite level athletes.
  • Knowledge in data processing and analyses, statistics, strength training, plyometrics, speed development, conditioning, flexibility, and injury prevention.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Highly organized and able to maintain a structured plan.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CSCS certification (Preferred)
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
