About the position

The position is focused on software development and quality assurance within the context of information systems that support manufacturing. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and technical training/experience. The candidate will be responsible for coding and documenting software programs according to design specifications, creating unit and integration test plans, and performing both unit and integration testing. Participation in peer code reviews and supporting application deployment are also key responsibilities. This position is designed for individuals who are currently pursuing their degree and are expected to work in-person for at least 40 hours per week for a duration of 14-16 weeks during the January to May/June 2025 timeframe. The role emphasizes the importance of good knowledge of information systems, IT environments, and development tools, as well as the ability to define problems, collect data, and provide solutions. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Codes and documents software programs in accordance with design specifications.
  • Creates unit and integration test plans.
  • Performs unit and integration testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, or a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and technical training/experience.
  • Good knowledge of information systems used to support manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of IT system environments/platforms and development tools preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide solutions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing preferred.
  • Concepts of risk management, issue tracking, change management, and requirements gathering preferred.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organization skills.
  • Professional experience in quality assurance software testing as part of the development process preferred.
  • Precise attention to detail required.
  • Good consulting, client relations skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation expertise.
  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Systems, Math, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA required and must include extracurricular activities that demonstrate use of interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Graduating on or after May 2025 or entering a graduate program (masters or doctorate) in Fall 2025.
