About the position
The Spring '25 Internship in Adult Design at ABRAMS offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the book publishing industry. This for-credit internship focuses on providing design support to the Adult Design department across various imprints, allowing interns to learn the book-making process and engage with the visually creative aspects of publishing.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing passes/proofs with the designers
- Making text edits
- Formatting printer templates
- Preparing paperback covers and ARCs
- Providing overall design support for the design team
- Attending weekly design meetings with the department
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Creative Cloud: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Strong typesetting skills
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
