About the position

The Spring Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for preparing student athletes for competition in various sports activities, fostering skill development, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. This part-time role supports the academic mission of the school by prioritizing athletics and assisting the Athletic Director in managing the sports program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare student athletes for competition in sports activities.
  • Instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, sportsmanship, cooperation, strategy, and physical conditioning.
  • Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
  • Plan and schedule regular practice programs during the season.
  • Maintain attendance forms, insurance records, and other related documents.
  • Oversee safety conditions in the facility during sports activities.
  • Establish and implement performance criteria for academic eligibility in interscholastic competition.
  • Enforce code of conduct standards and sportsmanlike behavior among student athletes.
  • Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.

Requirements

  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Knowledge and/or background in the assigned sport.
  • Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of South Carolina High School League rules and eligibility.
