About the position
The Sprinkler Service Technician at Johnson Controls is responsible for servicing and troubleshooting various fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, and pre-action systems, as well as fire pumps and backflows. This role requires a combination of technical skills, physical ability, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure effective maintenance and repair of fire protection systems. The technician will work collaboratively within a diverse team and is expected to follow detailed instructions and maintain a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Service and troubleshoot wet/dry/pre-action systems, fire pumps, and backflows.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and read complex construction blueprints and specifications.
- Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Perform work in difficult positions such as climbing ladders and using high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and dispose of trash properly.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment as required.
- Secure all tools and equipment at the end of each work period.
- Complete and submit time reports and other required documents.
- Report any changes or discrepancies to the dispatcher/supervisor.
- Work alternate shifts or weekends as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years of experience in the industry.
- Working knowledge of wet, dry, and pre-action sprinkler systems, and fire pump systems.
- Clean driving record.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Nice-to-haves
- Sprinkler and Backflow license (must be obtained).
- NICET certification.
