About the position
The SQA/Test Engineer for Veterans Affairs is responsible for assessing software quality through both manual and automated testing. This role involves coordinating and executing test events according to approved test plans and procedures, ensuring accurate test environment setups, and creating detailed test reports. The engineer will identify and report bugs, create defects, and document test execution results, ensuring that products and systems function correctly. A strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze system specifications and requirements
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Test Engineers, and Test Managers to develop effective strategies and test plans
- Create test plans and logs to document testing phases
- Write and execute test cases and scripts (manual or automated) and analyze and record results
- Evaluate product code according to specifications
- Enter defects and record results in quality management system
- Report bugs and errors to development teams
- Create test data and set up test environment
- Identify necessary and execute regression tests
- Help troubleshoot issues
- Conduct post-release/post-implementation testing
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a business or technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in QA, testing, or a similar role
- Experience in 508 Compliance testing, VistA, GUI
- Experience in Agile frameworks
- Experience in automation frameworks (front-end and back-end)
- Experience in regression testing
- Ability to document and troubleshoot errors
- Working knowledge of test management software (e.g. qTest, Zephyr, LoadRunner), Jira, Rational, and SQL
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
- Strong organizational skills
