About the position

The Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Acentra Health is responsible for developing and executing test cases independently while providing technical and domain knowledge to peers. This role focuses on ensuring quality and efficiency in software testing, utilizing established guidelines to analyze defects and improve software quality. The position is hybrid/remote based in Albany, NY, and involves mentoring junior staff and interacting with various functional teams to deliver high-quality health solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans for small to medium projects with focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Follow general guidelines established in the test plan and receive minimal instruction and assignments from leadership.
  • Develop and modify test plans and adapt to changing project circumstances.
  • Document and execute test cases from approved test plan, project requirements and design.
  • Develop Software Quality Assurance automation scripts aligned with test plan.
  • Perform Software Quality Assurance including GUI, back-end, interface, batch, regression, and automation execution performance.
  • Record results following established project standards for Software Quality Assurance, defect management, and test deliverables.
  • Develop defect root cause analysis and verify defect fixes.
  • Create and review test data to support planned tests.
  • Update the Requirements Traceability Matrix.
  • Interact with other functional teams.
  • Provide Software Quality Assurance status updates to leadership.
  • Develop and provide input to test planning activities.
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to leadership and assist in developing solutions.
  • Assist in providing technical and functional knowledge to junior staff members and mentor them.
  • Demonstrate domain expertise and present test scenarios to clients.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Software Quality Assurance methodologies, best practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate advanced business knowledge in one or more domains.
  • Possess unwavering commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
  • Keep abreast of new technology and market developments.
  • Request and provide both negative and positive feedback.
  • Provide technical and test guidance to designated Software Quality Assurance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree with 7-11 years of Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and Software Quality Assurance life cycle (STLC).
  • Moderate back-end Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • Experience with fundamentals of programming.
  • Understanding of SharePoint applications, Webex, Skype, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, with a working knowledge of the rest of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of defect management tools (such as Jira).
  • Knowledge and moderate understanding of Unix commands.
  • Knowledge of database tools (such as Oracle, SQL Server, TOAD).
  • Strong SQL skills.
