About the position

The SQL/Big Data Developer will be responsible for the implementation and governance of controls on market data within a Cloudera/big data platform for a financial services client. This role involves extensive work with SQL, data analysis, and troubleshooting issues related to data controls.

Responsibilities

• Implement and govern controls on market data on Cloudera/big data platform.
• Work with source systems that publish transactions to Cloudera data platform and perform root cause analysis on failed controls.
• Execute complex SQL queries on Hive/IMPALA DB.
• Conduct data analysis on implemented controls and identify issues to implement fixes.

Requirements

• Strong domain knowledge on OTC derivatives and markets.
• 7+ years of experience in IT and database/data warehouse domain.
• Experience in writing SQL in Hive and Impala.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in writing complex queries spanning multiple tables.
• Working knowledge of performance tuning of database queries, including understanding query optimizer, query plans, indexes, and partitions.
• Exposure to scripting languages like shell scripting and Python.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with FpML is a plus.
