About the position

The SQL/Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of information reporting systems, focusing on the design, configuration, implementation, and management of databases and data warehouse solutions. This role involves troubleshooting performance issues, collaborating with various teams, and providing innovative solutions to enhance data management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Innovate and provide recommendations for existing problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze database needs and develop a long-term strategy for data storage.
  • Lead activities related to database systems development, documentation, and implementation.
  • Maintain, improve, and create complex Microsoft SQL database objects including stored procedures and functions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues.
  • Design, document, create, unit and system test, deploy, and maintain databases including data warehouses.
  • Work with business and other teams to develop and implement business rules for the data warehouse.
  • Support the development team with database-related issues.
  • Develop reference and workflow documents for documentation purposes.
  • Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems for management advice.
  • Review project requests to estimate time and cost for tasks.
  • Coordinate with Informatics and Data Science staff as needed.
  • Use KACE and Team Foundation Server (TFS) for organizational requests and version control.
  • Provide technical support around systems capabilities to IT projects and training for IT staff as needed.
  • Research and evaluate latest technology and tools for innovation and development excellence.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Informatics functional architecture and system design.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in healthcare claims environment and reporting development, including Microsoft SQL database development and ETL.
  • 2 year degree required; Microsoft data systems certifications may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Advanced SQL and MS SQL Server operating systems knowledge.
  • Experience with database projects in Visual Studio (2019 Pro or Enterprise).
  • Experience in database development, maintenance, and execution of large scale system upgrades.
  • Advanced knowledge in ETL and data warehousing, and understanding of structured and unstructured data analysis.
  • Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops and Agile techniques.
  • Problem-solving skills and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate problem solving among diverse groups and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and document effectively.
