About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified SQL Database Admin (Intermediate) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. This position is contingent upon contract award and will be based in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The DBA will work across two agile scrum teams, one focused on SharePoint and the other on Dynamics, to maintain the health of the database environment and address various customer ticket requests. Responsibilities will include patching, monitoring, maintenance, and ensuring the overall health of the database farm. The DBA will also participate in scrum and security meetings, providing solutions and tracking work effectively. The role involves managing Availability Groups, which includes adding or removing databases and ensuring synchronization between primary and secondary databases. The DBA will be responsible for backing up and restoring databases between SQL Clusters, monitoring backup jobs, and optimizing SQL cluster performance and databases. Additionally, monitoring database and log disk space, ensuring that auto-growth settings are optimized, and creating new SQL cluster nodes to manage within related Availability Groups are key responsibilities. Familiarity with optimizing SQL Server for a SharePoint environment and understanding automation concepts related to SQL Server and Database Management in Azure are also essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Availability Groups (i.e. Add/Remove db's, ensure primary/secondary are synced)
  • Backup/Restore databases between SQL Clusters
  • Monitor Backup jobs and restart if necessary
  • Optimize SQL cluster performance and DBs
  • Monitor DB/Log Disk Space and Ensure DB Auto-Growth Settings are Optimized
  • Create New SQL Cluster Nodes and Manage them in related Availability Groups
  • Be familiar with optimizing SQL Server for a SharePoint environment
  • Be familiar with automation concepts as it related to SQL Server and Database Management in Azure

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND two years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • OR Associate's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • OR Six years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must currently live in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers
