About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified SQL Database Admin (Senior) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. As a SQL Database Administrator on this program, you will use your expertise and experience in various areas to deliver solutions and services to our customer. The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the overall SQL Server environment, overseeing the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server RDBMS systems, as well as ensuring the availability and performance of enterprise applications. Your responsibilities will include maintaining SQL database objects and performing database capacity planning, data modeling, data loads, troubleshooting, database backup and recovery, and supporting onsite applications. You will manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. Additionally, you will configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. You will also ensure that development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations, independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, and provide problem resolution end-to-end. Scripting automation, managing database structures by monitoring and adjusting internal structures (tuning), defining and performing regular backups of databases, and being involved in planning, designing, creating, installing, customizing, upgrading, and maintaining databases to meet defined requirements are also key aspects of this role. Furthermore, you will perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels, document databases and deployed applications, and implement and document database security. You will create and maintain reports and forms, ensuring databases are compliant with applicable STIGS, and perform other duties as required. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server RDBMS systems.
  • Ensure the availability and performance of enterprise applications.
  • Maintain SQL database objects and perform database capacity planning, data modeling, data loads, troubleshooting, database backup and recovery, and support onsite applications.
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance.
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security of database systems.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Script automation for database management tasks.
  • Manage database structures by monitoring and adjusting internal structures (tuning) as required.
  • Define, establish, and perform regular backups of databases.
  • Involvement in planning, designing, creating, installing, customizing, upgrading, and maintaining databases to meet defined requirements.
  • Perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels.
  • Document databases and deployed applications.
  • Implement and document database security measures.
  • Create and maintain reports and forms.
  • Ensure databases are compliant with applicable STIGS.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration OR Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND six years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration OR Ten years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently live in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex government programs of a research and development nature.
  • Azure certified.
  • Experience with Dynatrace, Power Apps, PowerBI, Powerflow, and JIRA.
