About the position

ECS is seeking a qualified SQL Database Admin (Intermediate) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy. The DBA will work across two agile scrum teams, one for Point and one for Dynamics, to maintain the health of the environment and complete various customer ticket requests at the database level. This will include patching, monitoring, maintenance, customer requests and reports, and keeping up the health of the farm. The DBA will participate in various scrum and security meetings as well as be prepared to provide solutions and track work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Availability Groups (i.e. Add/Remove db's, ensure primary/secondary are synced)
  • Up/Restore databases between SQL Clusters
  • Monitor up jobs and restart if necessary
  • Optimize SQL cluster performance and DBs
  • Monitor DB/Log Disk Space and Ensure DB Auto-Growth Settings are Optimized
  • Create New SQL Cluster Nodes and Manage them in related Availability Groups
  • Be familiar with optimizing SQL Server for a Point environment
  • Be familiar with automation concepts as it related to SQL Server and Database Management in Azure

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND two years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • OR Associate's Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field AND four years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • OR Six years of experience working on SQL databases performing modeling and administration
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must currently live in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract
  • Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature
