About the position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to support a Department of Defense (DoD) program in Silver Spring, MD. The role requires managing and administering various database management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading database projects. The position demands a Secret clearance and involves both technical and analytical responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Researches, administers, manages, designs, documents, and evaluates a variety of database management systems including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access.
• Maintains and administers database server and middleware tools used to develop Web database systems and framework.
• Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures.
• Evaluates database server integrity and security.
• Audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands, hand-editing, and bulk import.
• Oversees the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites.
• Assumes the technical lead for SQL Server and online database projects.
• Assists software engineers in the development of web-based interfaces to database systems.
• Assists information system analysts in the development of SQL queries, including for data mining.
• Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff.
• Creates and maintains high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports, SSRS, SQL Server Report Builder, Tableau, and Power BI.
• Ensures that IT programs and databases comply with all applicable regulations and policies, including Federal, DA and MEDCOM.
• Develops database and related application documentation as required.
• Performs complex technical, analytical and professional services involving program/member services, evaluation, database driven Web sites, office operations support, and problem resolution.
• Maintains and administers Web server and middleware tools used to develop Web database systems and framework.
• Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), templates and forms.

Requirements

• Bachelors/Masters in related field.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance.
• Must possess a Security Plus certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing, installing, implementing and administering SQL Server databases and servers in the DoD environment within the last 8 years.
• Experience implementing MS SSRS systems and developing and deploying reports within the last 5 years.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience administering relational databases of 500+ GB in size.
• Experience with MS SQL Server 2008 R2; experience with other commercial reporting and analytic tools like Tableau, Power BI, Crystal reports, etc.; web application development experience.
• Possess current/active MS SQL database related industry certification.
• Experience with Replication and synchronization of multiple databases.
• Experience with SharePoint, reporting, and bioinformatics preferred.
• Previous experience with MS SQL Server 2016.

Benefits

• Compensation range of $120,000-$130,000 depending on years of experience and degree.
