About the position

The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) at Unlimited Technology is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Servers. This role involves working closely with analysts, systems administrators, and designers to ensure high performance, availability, and security of database systems. The DBA will also manage database backups, recovery, and security, while providing leadership and architectural recommendations for long-term database scalability and performance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Servers.
  • Create and maintain functional and relational Database Diagrams for all SQL Databases.
  • Write and troubleshoot complex Stored Procedures, ANSI and T-SQL queries and scripts.
  • Implement operational automation for database management.
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments.
  • Configure database servers and processes, monitoring system health and performance.
  • Update, backup, maintain, and troubleshoot databases.
  • Perform troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysis for database incidents.
  • Write and optimize SQL statements and perform database tuning.
  • Manage database backups, recovery, and security tasks.
  • Design database indexing schemes and perform optimal DB tuning.
  • Review and recommend improvements for database best practices and security.
  • Export and import data from/to various formats and transfer data between servers.
  • Provide leadership and architectural recommendations for database scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of MS SQL Server Administration experience.
  • Experience with Failover Clustering and Always on Availability Groups.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization.
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and analyzing query performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with C#, Visual Basic, or Visual Studio.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to adapt to rapid project changes.
