About the position

The SQL Database Administrator/Technical Support Analyst role focuses on managing and maintaining enterprise-level databases while providing exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of database systems, alongside offering second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network communication issues. This position also involves collaboration with systems administrators and other teams to enhance database workflows and implement improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
  • Develop T-SQL statements, stored procedures, and views, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
  • Provide second-level technical support, resolving hardware, software, and communication problems.
  • Maintain and manage database backup strategies and disaster recovery plans for mission-critical applications.
  • Ensure adherence to change management procedures for all database and environment modifications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance database workflows and improve system efficiencies.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff and ensure staff training aligns with industry trends and technology developments.
  • Foster customer service relationships with both internal and external clients.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL database management, including T-SQL, SSRS, and database performance tuning.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network communication issues.
  • Technical support skills for both hardware and software.
  • Advanced customer service capabilities, ensuring prompt and efficient resolution of technical issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and manage hardware and software in a Windows environment.
  • Experience in Technical Support, Customer Service, Systems Administration, Report Writing, Dashboarding, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience providing technical support and customer service.
  • Ability to provide backup assistance for various technical roles as needed.
  • Experience creating, updating, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for database administration and technical support processes.
