About the position

The SQL Database Developer position at United World Telecom involves managing and enhancing MS SQL databases to support the company's product range. The role requires a strong background in SQL development, database architecture, and collaboration with internal teams to propose new features. This is an on-site position based in Delray Beach, FL, focusing on improving database performance and integrity while migrating databases to MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Manage MS SQL databases with large volume of data
• Debug, understand and improve existing stored procedures, functions, triggers and Jobs
• Create and maintain keys and indexes
• Improve speed and performance of complex queries and procedures
• Improve overall database architecture by creating and modifying database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and relationships based on business requirements
• Ensure data integrity and security
• Monitor overall health of the database and manage backups to prevent problems
• Migrate the MS SQL database to MySQL or PostgreSQL in phases
• Work together with internal clients and developers to scope and propose new features from the database perspective
• Support overall IT team by creating and maintaining procedures for them as well as helping them to improve their t-SQL skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related experience
• Minimum of 5 years of full stack web development experience
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PHP
• Experience with building REST APIs, XML, JSON, etc.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team-oriented work approach with the ability to work independently
• Desire and initiative to take on challenges and deliver results

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Angular, NodeJS, and T-SQL
• Experience with setting up GitHub migration for MS SQL
• Extensive experience with t-SQL
• Able to setup and maintain physical servers and network architecture
• Experience with setting up Kubernetes
• Experience setting up Grafana for server performance monitoring
• Experience with DevOps CI/CD
