About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated Database Developer with a strong focus on automation to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in SQL Database Administration, expertise in Python and/or PowerShell for developing infrastructure automation tools, and a commitment to mentoring and developing team members. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain solutions to automate the deployment and management of SQL databases and related infrastructure.
• Lead initiatives to identify and automate repetitive tasks, improving the efficiency and reliability of IT operations.
• Manage and optimize SQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across various environments.
• Utilize tools such as Python, PowerShell, or other relevant scripting languages to create and maintain automated workflows that streamline processes.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies to enhance the team's capabilities and improve overall infrastructure management.
• Work closely with other IT teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, design solutions, and ensure the successful implementation of projects.
• Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to database and infrastructure automation to minimize downtime and service disruption.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of automation processes, IaC deployments, and SQL database management procedures.
• Ensure that all automation and database management practices adhere to industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Associate's degree and a minimum of 6 years' RDBMS experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years' RDBMS experience.
• Proficiency in SQL/Oracle, experience with relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server).
• Hands-on experience with database automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Experience with Ansible, Chef and Puppet
• Experience with cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
