About the position

Peraton is seeking a talented Database Developer with senior-level expertise in SQL Server and Database Development to support a law enforcement mission critical system. The role involves providing SQL Server/database development and administration support in a fast-moving, secure, DevOps environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of databases and data warehouses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SQL Server/Database development and administration support in a fast-moving, secure, DevOps environment.
  • Develop custom scripts to automate various database management processes.
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum DB/DW performance levels.
  • Develop, optimize, and tune stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and queries for business intelligence and analytic applications.
  • Maintain and improve the database schema and design, and transition development activities.
  • Resolve database issues including data modeling, design, queries, security control, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
  • Be proficient in T-SQL from development to administration.
  • Use Microsoft Enterprise SQL features such as Always On, SSRS, and SSIS.
  • Support SQL development including creating and designing SSRS Reports and SSIS Packages.
  • Perform Database Design and Data Cleansing with SSIS and ETL with different data sources.
  • Collaborate with the Application Development team, Testing team, and other IT departments to improve database/data warehouse performance.
  • Conduct hardware and software audits of servers and databases to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
  • Develop, implement, and promote standard operating procedures and schedules.
  • Research and recommend process improvements and industry best practices.
  • Schedule installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with IT policies and procedures.
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by supporting scheduled system backups and database archive operations.
  • Ensure systems documentation and configuration management records are current.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD.
  • Active TS clearance, possess SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Experience with programming and database management including scripting.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience designing, engineering, and administering SQL Server or Oracle databases.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience creating complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and reports using SQL or Oracle.
  • Experience with Data Modeling.
  • Experience with SSIS.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Microsoft PowerShell and Power-BI.
  • Experience with data warehouse architecture, implementation, and O&M.
  • Experience with high-availability, failovers, backups, scaling, and clustering operational systems.
  • Experience with Splunk 8.0 or later.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Service Fabric, and OpenText.
  • Experience leveraging Azure and/or AWS cloud services.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch.

  • Competitive salary range of $135,000 - $216,000 based on experience and other factors.
