About the position

The SQL Database Developer at Tokio Marine HCC is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software solutions using SQL Server. This role involves writing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, and queries to assist the organization in accessing and analyzing business data. The developer will also maintain SSAS cubes and create relational and cube reports, ensuring that all work aligns with established timelines and goals.

Responsibilities

• Consult with users to identify current business operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
• Design, create, test, and document data models that illustrate relationships between tables and other database objects.
• Create and document constraints that ensure integrity of data.
• Design, create, test, and document efficient queries with an emphasis on performance.
• Develop stored procedures, views, and functions; diagnose and tune poorly performing queries.
• Implement transactions to ensure data integrity when appropriate.
• Collaborate with analysts, end users, and other developers to design solutions that meet business objectives.
• Design, create, test, and document SSIS packages for various ETL processes.
• Design, create, test, and document SSRS reports using SQL Server Analysis Services cubes or stored procedures.
• Analyze and update SSAS Cube.

Requirements

• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 2 Years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of database development in Microsoft SQL 2012 or above.
• T-SQL performance tuning experience.
• Past success creating database objects (tables, stored procedures, etc.) to support various interfaces and processes.
• Demonstrated experience with database design and analysis.
• Strong experience with data analysis.
• Ability to create SQL Server Integration Services packages.
• Knowledge of SQL transactions and their appropriate utilization.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services.
• Basic understanding of SQL Database Administration, including database backups/restores and performance criteria.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server security: authentication, logins/roles, users/schema, permissions, encryption.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 or higher.
• Power BI Development experience in Reports, Dashboards, and DAX queries.
• Cloud Database experience, including cloud native SQL solutions.
• SSAS cube and MDX experience.
