The SQL DBA / Developer position is a contract-to-hire role based in Irving, TX, focused on database administration and development. The role requires a strong background in SQL databases, particularly Azure SQL DB and SQL Server, along with experience in supporting MySQL/MariaDB. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, be process-oriented, and have strong communication abilities to ensure effective customer service. This position involves both development and support tasks, with a potential conversion to a full-time role after 3-6 months.

Responsibilities

• Administer and develop SQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Support and maintain MySQL/MariaDB databases as needed.
• Engage in database architecture and dimensional data modeling.
• Document processes and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
• Assist in database migrations to Azure Cloud.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of development experience using Azure SQL DB and SQL Server.
• 2+ years of experience supporting MySQL/MariaDB.
• 2+ years of experience in database architecture and dimensional data modeling.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of experience in design and development of data systems (SQL Server based on Cloud/on premise and Analytics).
• 1+ year experience in building and supporting transactional systems and analytics systems (including data modeling).
• 1+ years assisting in Master Data Management efforts, including metadata management.
• Cloud certification on any platform.

Benefits

• Competitive hourly rate of $45-47/hr on W2 or $50-55/hr on C2C.
• Potential conversion salary of $110-125K after contract period.
