About the position

Apex is assisting a government contracting firm in staffing for a highly specialized SQL Database Administrator position that requires a TS/SCI clearance. This role is located on-site at Fort Liberty, where the selected candidate will work five days a week. The contract duration is set for three years, with an anticipated end date in 2027. The position offers a competitive pay rate starting at $70 per hour on a W2 basis. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience, specifically over 10 years as a SQL Database Administrator, with a preference for candidates who have military experience. While a TS/SCI clearance is highly preferred, candidates with an active TS clearance and eligibility for SCI will also be considered. In this role, the SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the quality control and auditing of databases to guarantee accurate and appropriate data usage. The administrator will collaborate with management to develop database strategies that align with organizational requirements. Additionally, the role involves consulting with users regarding access to various databases and resolving data conflicts or inappropriate data usage. The administrator will also oversee the maintenance and utilization of the corporate data dictionary, perform administration tasks for MS SQL Server and other Database Management Systems (DBMS), and implement policies and procedures to ensure the security, availability, and integrity of the DBMS. The position requires the creation and updating of System Security Plans (SSPs), Configuration Management Plans (CKLs), and other documentation necessary for the accreditation of the DBMS on classified networks. The SQL Database Administrator will conduct performance analysis, tuning, and index maintenance, as well as adjust advanced settings of Microsoft SQL Server and other DBMS to optimize functionality. Furthermore, the role includes building new Microsoft SQL Server instances within on-premise architecture and collaborating with other teams such as Storage, Domain, and Systems to implement industry best practices. Automating routine administration tasks and updating continuity documents are also key responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator, ideally with military experience.
  • TS/SCI Clearance highly preferred, but will consider active TS with eligibility for SCI.
