About the position

As a SQL DBA at AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will play a crucial role in administering, testing, and implementing computer databases, leveraging your expertise in database management systems. Your responsibilities will include coordinating changes to computer databases and planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures to safeguard these databases. You will work with cutting-edge technology in a supportive environment alongside a team of highly skilled professionals. In a typical week, you will administer production databases in a 24/7 service environment, which includes Oracle RAC, Informix, MySQL, and SQL Server. You will be responsible for performing database migrations, such as moving standalone Oracle 11g databases to an Oracle RAC 18c multi-tenant environment. Additionally, you will evaluate and establish database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance deliverables in Oracle 10g Linux environments. Your role will also involve coordinating and performing the loading of Oracle database patches and upgrades in an Oracle 10g RAC environment. Collaboration with DevOps teams will be essential as you conduct software and database deployments across Cigna's test and production environments using CI/CD products like Jenkins, uDeploy, GIT, and Subversion. You will troubleshoot web application deployment issues and Oracle database data loading issues during code deployments. Proactively monitoring database performance using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), TOAD, and SQL Developer will also be a key part of your responsibilities. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in database performance engineering and software development, particularly within a DevSecOps framework.

Responsibilities

  • Administer production databases in a 24/7 service environment including Oracle RAC, Informix, MySQL, and SQL Server.

  • Evaluate and establish database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance deliverables in Oracle 10g Linux environments.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Required certification: Oracle 10g Certified Professional (OCP) (equivalent to Microsoft MCSE).
  • Preferred education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology management or a related field.
  • Domain expertise in Database Performance Engineering, Software Development, and DevSecOps.
  • Technical skills in hardware and various database systems including Oracle 7.3.4, 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g, 12cR1 & 12cR2, 18c; ASM, RAC, Multi-tenant, SharePlex; Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c; SQL Developer, TOAD, SQL Optimizer; T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Experience with applications such as Epic (Bridges), InterSystems HealthShare Ensemble, Subversion, GIT, Jenkins, Jira, CA Workload Automation, and IBM UrbanCode Deploy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with and knowledge of TSA's mission priorities, systems, and applications preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
