About the position

The SQL DBA position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the performance, security, and integrity of database systems. This role involves guiding colleagues on best practices, managing database resources, and ensuring efficient database operations through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting. The DBA will also be involved in installations, upgrades, and migrations of SQL Server, as well as implementing continuous integration and deployment processes in Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance of database systems resources and query throughput
• Guide colleagues on database best practices
• Monitor and maintain database storage resources
• Monitor and maintain database maintenance plans for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics
• SQL Server Installation, Upgrades, Migrations and Configuration
• Install database software service packs and cumulative updates, as necessary
• Maintain database documentation as required
• Maintain and administer database security access
• Perform database Ad-hoc backups and restores
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database related issues
• Identify areas for improvement and implement it following best practices
• Follow Change Management processes to implement database configuration changes (Azure DevOps)
• Follow Problem Management processes to troubleshoot and resolve recurring issues
• Proactively monitor and respond to MSSQL database Alert
• Continuous Integration and Deployment in Azure DevOps
• Experience with Microsoft Azure focused on the data solutions (Azure Data Factory / Azure Synapse / SQL database)
• Assist internal/external audit with reporting requirements
• Develop scripts for consistent and secure execution of common tasks
• Providing SQL expertise, proposing design recommendations, optimization performance improvements

Requirements

• Experience with SQL Server installation, upgrades, and migrations
• Strong knowledge of database performance monitoring and optimization
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps for change and problem management
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
• Experience with Microsoft Azure data solutions such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse
• Strong scripting skills for database tasks
• Knowledge of database security best practices
