About the position

The Database Administrator (DBA) will provide comprehensive support for all database-related issues within the organization. This role focuses on optimizing database performance, ensuring data integrity, and supporting both on-premise and cloud-based database systems. The DBA will work closely with application development teams and will be responsible for maintaining high availability and disaster recovery of database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor performance and capacity of database systems
  • Optimize and tune database systems for performance
  • Ensure adherence to storage, archiving, and backup recovery procedures
  • Conduct backup recovery testing and disaster recovery testing
  • Troubleshoot database issues and perform impact analysis for proposed changes
  • Control access permissions and privileges for database systems
  • Alter tables and schema structures as required
  • Collaborate with application development teams to develop stored procedures, triggers, and code
  • Execute database release management processes and coordinate maintenance of development, testing, and production environments
  • Design physical database structures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field/technical experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in administering multi-terabyte databases (PostgreSQL, Yellowbrick, Netezza, DB2, SQL Server, Oracle)
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting Windows desktop/server operating systems and technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policies
  • Expert administration/engineering skills in Windows 10 OS technologies
  • Advanced knowledge in automating for Windows platforms leveraging PowerShell, ActiveBatch, and SCCM or MDT
  • Proficiency with SQL, Mongo, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, UNIX Shell, PowerShell, PERL
  • Strong technical ability and outstanding troubleshooting skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to research emerging technologies and make recommendations that benefit the business
