About the position

The SQL Developer/Analyst (Systems Analyst V) is responsible for performing advanced functional and technical computer analysis work with minimal supervision. This role involves developing information systems and technology solutions to improve existing systems within the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The Analyst will analyze user requirements, develop automated processes, and provide technical guidance while participating in complex information systems projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements and develop automated processes.
  • Participate in complex information systems projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to business areas.
  • Extract data from Oracle databases using SQL and ETL technologies.
  • Create reports for end users using Microsoft Office or other tools.
  • Create and modify complex stored procedures using PL SQL.
  • Develop system documentation and status reports.
  • Monitor and maintain Financials Data Warehouse (FDW) processes and systems.
  • Support MIMS interfaces and provide backup for Lawson application.
  • Write, debug, and maintain PL SQL Stored Procedures and shell scripts.
  • Create, debug, and maintain Informatica Powermart ETL processes.
  • Produce technical analysis and solutions for FDW systems.
  • Develop technical documentation for internal IT staff and external customers.
  • Mentor colleagues and facilitate knowledge transfer within the FDW team.
  • Provide routine status reports to the Product Support Data Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in information systems, computer science, data processing, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in information technology.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a functional or technical analyst or programmer.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Texas state government processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial and/or HR/HCM data elements.
  • Experience working with Oracle databases.
  • Experience in a data warehouse environment.
  • Experience with shell scripting.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Access.
