About the position

The SQL Developer position in Charlotte, NC, is a critical role within a complex enterprise organization, primarily focused on operational data procurement and assembly tasks. Initially, the role will involve supporting these tasks, but it is expected to evolve into more advanced data analysis and development responsibilities. The SQL Developer will be tasked with building, maintaining, and scaling processes that deliver well-defined, transformed, tested, documented, and code-reviewed data to business users and downstream systems. This is essential for helping the company strategically utilize data to operate and grow its business effectively. In this role, the SQL Developer will work on high-impact projects aimed at improving data availability and quality, ensuring reliable access to data for the rest of the business. The position requires applying software engineering methodologies and business logic to produce and maintain analytics code that transforms raw data into consumable information. The SQL Developer will also be responsible for the implementation and support of ETL processes, as well as monitoring and reporting on these processes to ensure they function optimally. Additionally, the SQL Developer will analyze data system integration challenges and propose optimized solutions. Writing complex SQL queries using joins, subqueries, and SQL queries for cross-verification of data will be a significant part of the job. The role also involves providing data extracts and metrics to answer business questions promptly and effectively communicating complex topics and analyses to non-technical business personnel. This position is part of the Preferred Vendors department and is classified as a contract position.

Responsibilities

  • Support operational data procurement and assembly tasks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data analysis and development experience
  • Strong SQL experience
  • Experience writing complex SQLs using joins and subqueries
  • Experience working with ETL pipelines
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Familiarity with Agile or Kanban workflow
  • Experience with writing and reviewing version controlled code
  • Strong understanding of data quality testing
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and analytical skills.
