About the position

The SQL Developer or Data Content Specialist role focuses on creating, documenting, and communicating detailed definitions of client data. This position requires collaboration with both internal and external users to ensure data definitions are accurate and up-to-date. The role involves tracing data sources, consulting on data usage rules, and working closely with various teams to provide clarity and solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Create, document, and communicate detailed definitions of client data.
  • Collaborate with users of client data to validate definitions are current, consistent, and correct.
  • Trace, consult, and document data sources, transforms, purge, and usage rules.
  • Work closely with IS, Product Managers, and Sales team to clarify definition information and create solutions for customers.
  • Implement, load, and maintain definitions in metadata repository and data access tools (e.g., Teradata, Cognos).
  • Design, implement, and deliver presentations to educate users on accessing and using data definitions and tools.
  • Consult with IS and others to evaluate, select, and maintain metadata management tools and utilities.
  • Investigate data anomalies with the EIM team and collaborate on corrective actions.
  • Document and support data to leverage it as an asset for products and solutions delivered to customers.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills for extensive interaction with business users.
  • Proficiency in SQL querying and data extraction using any tool.
  • Ability to create clear, unambiguous business and technical definitions.
  • Experience in data profiling and linking definitions to actual data in repositories.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cognos, ETL, or metadata management tools.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate of $35-40/hr.
  • Salary upon conversion to full-time position up to $70K.
