About the position

VetsEZ is currently seeking a SQL Developer to join a team to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This position will play a crucial role in the Data Migration & Syndication effort within the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO). The ideal candidate must reside within the continental United States and will be responsible for various tasks related to data management and integration. The SQL Developer will engage in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to convert data into various target formats, including text, SQL, Parquet, CSV, MDF, and IRIS. The role involves modeling data tables to ensure they are practical and usable within the evolving data syndication database architecture. The developer will design both logical and physical schemas necessary to support an enterprise dimensional model and evaluate commercial modeling tools against internal offerings to determine the best fit and capabilities. Additionally, the developer will assess commercial data cataloging platforms for potential implementation and support deployment and change management efforts. A significant part of the role includes writing SQL queries, optimizing their performance, and developing and updating data models that align with applicable VA enterprise data standards. The SQL Developer will also create or enhance database architectures and designs to meet emerging data integration needs. Compliance with VA security regulations is paramount, and the developer will be responsible for delivering all code and documentation related to their work. Furthermore, the role may involve assisting with tools like InterSystems HealthConnect and HealthShare, focusing on data input and output in various forms. Enhancements to performance or scaling of data and users may require architectural design changes, which must be approved by the government Project Manager.
