About the position

The SQL Developer role involves performing data profiling and analysis of both structured and unstructured data. The position requires creating process flows, maintaining design artifacts, and validating ETL designs. The developer will also be responsible for performance tuning of ETL processes and SQL queries, while leading and managing an offshore team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data profiling and analysis of structured and unstructured data.
  • Create process flows using Visio.
  • Maintain design-related artifacts such as data models, mapping documents, architecture diagrams, and data flow diagrams.
  • Create source to target mappings and ETL design for data integration into the data warehouse.
  • Validate ETL design, solutions, and transformation logic.
  • Ensure technical specifications are complete, consistent, concise, and achievable.
  • Tune performance of SSIS ETL processes and SQL queries.
  • Utilize automation tools like Active Batch or similar products.
  • Lead and manage the offshore team.
  • Work in a matrixed team environment with distributed responsibilities.
  • Deliver in a high-paced environment with limited information.
  • Delegate and coordinate monitoring, analysis, and testing in an onsite-offshore delivery model.
  • Identify and communicate scope, design, and development issues, recommending solutions.
  • Participate in ETL architecture design reviews.
  • Conduct ETL unit testing and code reviews as needed.
  • Participate in system and integration testing, identifying and remedying defects.
  • Create technical artifacts needed for project implementation.
  • Understand end-to-end SDLC from project inception to deployment.
  • Apply different project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Microsoft SSIS development.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server 2012 database development including stored procedures, views, triggers, and functions.
  • Mastery of T-SQL and ETL using Bulk Insert and SSIS.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft BI Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Analytics Platform System (Parallel Data Warehouse).
  • Familiarity with SSRS.
  • Understanding of principles of data mining.
