About the position

The SQL Developer role involves designing and optimizing data operations while maintaining database performance. The position requires a strong understanding of business strategies to translate business intelligence needs into database requirements. The developer will create complex queries, troubleshoot production issues, and support application development across multiple large projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and streamline data operations and maintain database performance.
• Understand business strategy and translate business intelligence needs to the database level.
• Design database tables based on transactional and analytical requirements.
• Create complex queries and troubleshoot production issues affecting database performance.
• Create, maintain, and deploy SSIS packages.
• Provide application development and production support for multiple large projects.
• Research and resolve production issues, including troubleshooting of Mid-Tier MS SQL Server online and batch abends.
• Evaluate daily and monthly batch processes to improve performance and shorten critical path windows.
• Perform impact analysis across multiple platforms and applications.
• Deliver complete documentation for estimates, design, and development.
• Be on-call for production support during off-office hours, including nights and weekends if required.
• Create and execute SQL statements and perform complex data analysis.
• Create/modify SQL Server code/packages including SSIS/Stored Procedures and handle error conditions.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Developer.
• Proficient with columnar databases and distributed SQL Query engines.
• Database development experience using T-SQL, including creating/updating stored procedures, SQL Functions, and Triggers.
• Experience working with SQL XML on SQL Server 2019 or higher.
• Experience working on SQL Server 2019 or higher.
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile methodologies.
• Strong data analytical skills and ability to analyze large datasets.
• Advanced ability to utilize SQL traces and debugging tools for problem resolution.
• Advanced ability to analyze and model business functions, processes, and information flow within or between systems.
• Hands-on experience working with SQL XML on SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher.
• Hands-on experience creating/updating/deploying SSIS packages.
• Excellent analytical skills to understand requirements and design appropriate database schemas.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the Automotive Finance industry preferred.
• Business knowledge of financial services, including understanding of automotive lending, customer service, payment processing, taxes, end of term and extension processes, collections, delinquency tracking, repossession, charge off, recovery, bankruptcy, and accounting.
• Familiarity with the Salesforce Service & Marketing cloud platform preferred.
