About the position

The State of Rhode Island's Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Senior SQL Developer to analyze data, work with software, and learn new technologies. The role involves collaborating with experienced leads and business resources to deliver quality solutions, focusing on designing, implementing, and managing various systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex SQL queries and PL/SQL objects.
  • Perform database and SQL performance tuning.
  • Model data and utilize data visualization tools, preferably Tableau or Power BI.
  • Apply ETL practices using tools like Informatica or Pentaho.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex DML and logical coding errors.
  • Document system architecture using Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate technical concepts effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Oracle databases.
  • Strong experience in writing complex SQL queries and developing PL/SQL objects.
  • Proficient in data modeling and visualization tools.
  • Working knowledge of ETL practices.
  • Excellent understanding of database management systems (DBMS).
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with complex DML.
  • Expert level SQL querying and database manipulation with large data sets.
  • Familiarity with code repositories, ideally Git.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools, preferably Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of relational database designs and database security.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of Integrated Eligibility experience.
  • Experience developing reports for federal agencies (SNAP/TANF/Medicaid).
  • Experience with Enterprise Workflow Management Tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow.
  • Advanced understanding of data visualization technologies like Tableau.
  • Oracle certification(s).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
